Experience
Currently I serve as the Public Affairs Officer for the Salem (Virginia) Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, responsible for writing articles, editing content produced by other members of staff, writing speeches as necessary, and as the focal point for media interest in the facility. In addition I take and edit photographs, and take on videography assignments as well as maintain the hospital’s web presence and social media.
In my free time I am an author of genre fiction. As of June 2023, I have 8 books published through Amazon and two other novellas available for free (at: www.rosairebushey.com). I also provide copyediting services to other authors and have edited the following:
- For The Ones Who Remain, by R. Collins (science fiction)
- To Speak With Elders, by Mike Mollman (fantasy) I have also edited several companion RPG games for Mike Mollman that are centered in the same world as his novels.
Beginning in 1987 through 2000 I was a writer/editor for the US Air Force at a number of bases in the United States and Europe involved in the management, design, writing, photography, and editing of weekly newspapers for Air Force members at bases in Arizona, Sicily, England, New York, Portuguese Azores, and Alaska.
From 2001-2007 & 2010-2012, I was a Public Affairs Officer, overseeing the production of weekly publications as well as responsible for training subject matter experts for media engagement opportunities.
From 2007-2010 I served as an Associate Professor of Aerospace Studies at Norwich University in Vermont, teaching ROTC content to future USAF Officers.
Awards
My awards from my military time include: Air Combat Command Public Affairs Company Grade Officer of the Year (2006); and more than 20 awards at Major Command and Air Force level for Magazine (editing); Writing (News, Editorials, Features, and Sports); Informational Graphics and several other individual and team Public Affairs Awards between 1989-2006
